Newbrugh Priory Wedding

Anna and Neil's Newburgh Priory wedding

What a well kept secret Newburgh Priory is, or perhaps it isn't if you live in or around York but until Anna and Neil came to see me with a view to booking their wedding photography I had never heard of it. It did however become my favourite venue of 2015 after photographing Anna and Neil’s Newburgh Priory wedding in August!

There is something magical about the grounds with their ruined priory, the views across the Lake, the statues which you find around at every corner and the leafy avenues to stroll along in the shade. In fact the very best view of the Priory is from the other side of the lake as you look across, you need to take a sneaky left turn as you come around the bend before the entrance to the Priory but it is the best way to get an entire view of the property and it never looked better, I imagine, than on the perfect Summers day of Anna and Neil’s wedding. They were so lucky as it enabled them to enjoy their drinks reception in the Abbey ruins after the ceremony .

Newburgh Priory wedding

If you are looking for a venue in Yorkshire I can’t recommend Newburgh Priory highly enough. Paul looked after Anna and Neil so well and was great to work with, taking the time to show me around , explain where the marquee would be etc .

Anna and Neil chose to have an intimate wedding, inviting only closest family and friends for the ceremony itself which took place in one of the Georgian drawing rooms; This had the most perfect quality of light for photography and some of the images I captured as they exchanged their vows are amongst my favourites of the year, especially the one when they laughed into each other’s eyes immediately after exchanging rings.

Anna had planned all the details of her wedding meticulously and it was an absolute pleasure to work with Jane Steel at Weddings and Events who designed the most stunning floral bouquets, and arrangements for the Marquee. Wedding photography in Elmfield Park Doncaster

Savannah and Lee's wedding at The Earl of Doncaster Hotel

Savannah and Lee married at The Earl of Doncaster Hotel in Doncaster. It was a beautiful day across the whole South Yorkshire. We started in a village of Hellaby photographing Savannah and Lee getting ready before we set of towards Doncaster where their wedding guests started arriving at The Earl of Doncaster Hotel. It was a beautiful and emotional ceremony held at the Ripon & Wetherby Suite and after these two said 'I do' we all went to the nearby Elmfield Park in the heart of Doncaster for some family and friends formal photographs as well as some staged bride and groom portraits.

It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Earl of Doncaster Hotel, renowned as one of Doncaster’s finest wedding venues in Doncaster. It is a beautifully finished four star hotel with the unique Art Deco character. Savannah and Lee were a pleasure to work with and we both knew exactly what to expect on the day as I had already worked with this couple on their engagement session prior to the wedding day. Once again congratulations to Savannah and Lee!

P.S. Don't forget to watch a short slideshow from this beautiful wedding at the end of this post and check out Savannah and Lee's wedding suppliers listed below.

Beautiful Yorkshire Wedding of Zoe and Ben at Holdsworth House in Halifax

Zoe & Ben’s Wedding at Holdsworth House in Halifax

This was our first time photographing a wedding at beautiful Holdsworth House in the hills above Halifax, West Yorkshire, a grand Jacobean manor built in 1633, famous for its appearance in the BBC drama "Tango in Halifax" and what better wedding to photograph than that of the splendid Zoe & Ben.

These two lovely people were an absolute joy to work with and we felt very welcomed by their friends and family. Zoe & Ben were also joined for their very special day by their dog Jules who, with her sparkly wedding collar, had almost as much attention as the beautiful bride!

Both Zoe and Ben spent the morning getting ready in different parts of the hotel before a lovely civil ceremony full of laughs and tears. We then headed outside into Holdsworth's lovely ornate gardens for some confetti throwing followed by some bride & groom couple shots. After the drinks reception in the cosy lounges with open fires, fine antiques and tapestries, it was on with the wedding breakfast and then some lovely heart-warming and very funny speeches.

The gardens look beautiful by day - and stunning by night - with twinkling lights in the trees. So we had to take the opportunity to nip back out after dinner for a couple of night photos before the evening party got well and truly underway.

Devonshire Arms Yorkshire Dales Wedding Photography

Beautiful Bolton Abbey Yorkshire Dales Wedding of Andrea and Trevor

We're pleased to feature this beautiful Yorkshire Dales wedding of Andrea and Trevor captured by Yorkshire wedding photographer Barnaby Aldrick. Here is how he describes the day:

It was a crisp, sunny day around Bolton Abbey, and Andrea and Trevor married in Bolton Priory (literally in the dramatic ruins of Bolton Abbey) before heading down the road to their wedding reception at the Michelin Starred, gastro-haven in The Devonshire Arms!

Hamish & I genuinely had such a blast in the company of this lovely couple and their welcoming friends and family. These newly-weds are so clearly, and passionately, in love; and have such a verve for life and fun. You could just see them enjoying every little moment, and were relishing the company of their near and dear on this special day. Sounds cheesy, but it really was magical.

The ceremony was in Bolton Priory, which is actually built within old ruins of Bolton Abbey!

It’s a stunning place for a wander at the best of times, especially when the sun’s blazing like it was today.

Andrea’s Bridesmaid Angela is a pro wedding & event planner, so with a lot of helpful hands on deck, did a huge amount in dressing the wedding meal room.

After the meal, with a bit of light left in the dusky skies, we headed out for a few extra portraits then gathered everyone outside the big Devonshire tree for sparkler fun!

Once everyone was well an truly enjoying the dancefloor, we bid out farewells (and Trev even bought us a beer to enjoy before hitting the road!).

What a lovely pair, and I can just tell they’re gonna have a wonderful, fun and fizz-filled life!

Massive congratulations all round you guys!

Bolton Percy Hornington Mannor wedding - Nicola & William

Beautiful Bolton Percy wedding and a Tipi reception in the grounds of Hornington Mannor

When I met Nicola & Will last year I was really excited to photograph their wedding after they had described to me their plans for their big day. It was a beautiful autumn wedding and Nicola's creativity really showed in all the little details that had been put together to make the place look amazing.

Nicola looked absolutely stunning in a vintage style Eliza Jane Howell wedding dress and after heavy rain all morning during the bridal preparations the sun came out at the perfect moment in time for Nicola to make her way to the church.

The ceremony was held at a beautiful little church in Bolton Percy in North Yorkshire, and afterwards the guests made their way to the Tipi reception in the grounds of Hornington Mannor, a Grade II listed manor house, which made the perfect backdrop for some beautiful photos.

Although the middle of autumn, it felt like a summer’s day and the guests were able to enjoy the sunshine whilst playing games of conkers and listening to the string quartet play outside on the lawn.
