Bride and groom outside York Registry Office after a wedding ceremony

Intimate York Registry Office wedding - Lynn and Martin

Mr & Mrs Coombs added some razzle dazzle to York Registry Office on the most sought after wedding date of the year – 20.02.2020!

Spiritually a significant day in numerology for the signing of contracts, marriages and commitments alike.

Lynn and Martin fell head over heels in love, in the first few months they having never been tattooed before gained matching ones, moved in together and decided to tie the knot. We just knew we had both found love, so why wait?

First stop on proposal Martin lead Lynn to a jewellers to design her very own band. What made her band special was the mere fact that her band was going to be the only ring on her finger, she didn’t want 2, being devoted christians Lynn loved the thought of having a TRIPLE band for trinity. Its personal!

Terrie who is conveniently a wedding photographer and daughter of the bride helped her mother tie and arrange some wild spring flowers for the single boquet on the very morning, which gloriously helped them create a small but significant happy memory to kick start the day.

On arrival in the grooms very own company taxi they married in the Boothan Suite of the York Registry Office, the smallest room, with only 7 people in total.

The small yet sufficient wedding party pub crawled through The Shambles, giving the same relaxed but atmospheric feeling as the registry office, keeping a theme in mind… this wedding is about love! Us!

Not the frilly favours, wedding cars or huge venues. We just wanted to be united, married – and we did just that!

Styled wedding shoot at The Grove Hall

Today on the blog  we present this beautiful inspiration wedding styled shoot at The Grove Hall in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire organised by Tammy from Howards Events and photographed by Nisha from Your Choice Photography.

Here is what Nisha, the photographer said on the whole shoot:

The inspiration behind photographing the shoot was to simply show the art of possible. My aim is to always capture naturally beautiful images, with a romantic feel.

In winter months especially, it can be hard to envision how things might look when it’s simply bare and muddy. You often need to see how it can be. Tammy also styled the event in a rustic way with touches of gold, including bespoke props from Bramble Sky.

Abigail’s hair & fresh faced make-up was done by lovely cruelty free MUA, Nicola Whitfield and she had a bespoke gown for Yorkshire designer, Danielle Sykes. Flox Bridal provided the finishing touches with a tiara & hair vine, whilst Amber from Mini Quinni Alternative Weddings provided beautifully designed, bespoke veils.

All tables were dressed with stunning arrangements from Jackie, The Flower Shop (South Elmsall) and she created a wild bouquet, with navy blue ribbon to match the accents in the room.

The day was finished with an exquisite white detailed cake from Cherry Blossom Cakes, styling from Howards Events included balloon decor, a flower wall and calligraphy printed mirrors and beautifully captured by Dan Williams Visuals.

From Nicola Whitfield (MUA) on her desired look: For the make up look I wanted to create a neutral palette so gold tones were used on the eyes and a pink toned lipstick complemented the look. To show off the beautiful hair accessories I designed a loose curled updo on our gorgeous model. It shows how several pieces can be worn together to create a cohesive look for your special day.

From Danielle of Danielle Sykes Designs on her bespoke dress: I wanted to create a gown that was dramatic, modern and timeless, so I used a plain ivory satin and focused on creating a striking silhouette. The puff ball sleeves

From Abigail on the vendors involved: Everyone on the day The Grove Hall was so welcoming and made me feel at ease, which is what you really want from the people that are bringing your wedding day to life! I loved the set up and everything went to plan on such a beautiful day. I would work with every one of them again.

From Tammy, owner of Howards Events: We chose to go for a Navy, gold and ivory theme along with lots of greenery to tie in with the Pantone colour of the year. We gave the whole room a feeling of warmth and regalness using a mixture of textures. Jackie from The Flower Shop created a greenery hoop along with some gorgeous floral centrepieces. We added lots of finer details including lace charger plates and a stunning 3d luxury flower wall.

Jackie, The Flower Shop:

I wanted to do something that was on trend and at the moment pampas grass is so on trend so incorporated with the pampas I chose to put some stunning ivory avalanche roses, Veronica, mimosa which I sprayed gold to add richness, wax flower, dried palm lease sprayed gold for that touch of regalness and corn with trailing asparagus adding softness and a touch of colour and finished with a deep rich blue satin ribbon tied around the bouquet.

Game of Thrones themed wedding at East Riddlesden Hall

Game of Thrones themed wedding at East Riddlesden Hall

We're delighted to show you this Game of Thrones themed barn wedding on the blog. With the ceremony in the Airedale Barn at East Riddlesden Hall the beautiful rustic charm of the venue was the perfect fit for our wedding theme. The bride got ready in a lovely log cabin just a short distance away from the venue. The ceremony in the barn was just beautiful with nuptials exchanged under the fairly lights in the barn, it was a really intimate and emotional ceremony.

The day was relaxed but fun for everyone. For the wedding breakfast there was a medieval style banquet, again fitting in with the wedding theme along with singing waiters that added more of a fun factor to the afternoon celebrations.

Northorpe Hall and Barn autumn wedding - Jenny and Craig

Northorpe Hall and Barn autumn wedding - Jenny and Craig

“We had been together for years and years before finally deciding it was time to make things official." said Jenny. "The most important element in the planning of the big day was finding the right venue. We enlisted the help of Yorkshire based Wedding planner My Pretties UK. Their event coordinator helped us find the perfect venue - Northorpe Hall and Barn in Mirfield.

"This venue ticked all the right boxes as not only is it a beautiful venue but all proceeds from the wedding went directly to their charity. This was a detail close to our hearts as our son is autistic and has benefitted from the services offered at Northorpe Hall. We really wanted a relaxed vibe at our wedding so with the help of our wedding planner we decided on an autumnal Yorkshire theme. We opted for mismatching bridesmaids and groomsmen outfits but with a common tweed/autumn theme. I chose a simple lace dress by Sarhanna Miller for Debenhams and awesome Irregular Choice shoes. My Pretties UK helped find us the best florist in Kate @ flowers at 180 in Mirfield - they created the most beautiful flower crown, bouquets and button holes. Our delicious cake was made by the very talented Jan @ Tiffany Cakes; the fresh flowers and fruit really suited the theme. On the day, mine and my bridesmaids hair was done by Beth Holdsworth and our make-up by Becki Mantell.

The venue was dressed by Jen at My Pretties UK who handled all the choosing and hiring of vendors. Most of the accessories she uses are handmade and designed for each wedding, so you are guaranteed a really unique product. We opted for Yorkshire themed canapés and bottles of Yorkshire ale and a hot cider bar. Instead of the traditional wedding breakfast we had a lovely vintage afternoon tea complete with scones, cream and jam - all supplied by the Northorpe Hall chefs. To keep the kids entertained (and quiet through the speeches!) Jen found us an entertainer and magician called Magic Haley. She was great and the kids loved her. Our band was a trio of dear friends working in the music industry who put together the most amazing band especially for us on our wedding day.

To continue the theme, My Pretties UK had our evening buffet catered by PIEHECK, a Yorkshire based pie company who make the most unusual and delicious pies. These were served with mash, peas and gravy. The whole days events were captured Simon Holmes Photography. Simon and his lovely wife were an integral part of the day. Simon has a very unobtrusive style and managed to photograph the day naturally as it unfolded. They felt more like wedding guests and friends than hired professionals.”

Western themed wedding in Yorkshire

Leanne and Kristian's western themed wedding at Camp Katur

After going to six weddings in one year and all being identical we knew we wanted something different, a blank canvas to create the day we wanted and we found just that at Camp Katur. Kristian is a huge fan of western films so we came up with the idea of a western themed wedding. We wanted all our guests to dress up and everyone got involved in doing so, some of the outfits were amazing.

Camp Katur has a rustic barn which was perfect for our theme as we were able to have a barn dance in the evening which was so much fun. All the guests stayed the weekend at the on site glamping village which made it more than just a day and it was so nice having all our family and friends there together. We were very lucky as it was warm summers day so guests could enjoy being outside in the sunshine and we even had a bucking bronco and a bouncing castle during the day which provided a lot of entertainment! Kristian turned up to the ceremony in his dream car, a 1966 Ford Mustang notchback!

Our ceremony was conducted by Jan from Celebration Ceremonies and she was brilliant at telling our unique story of how we met and she even got involved in dressing up too! Our meal was a scrumptious BBQ served in the estates Orangery room, followed by speeches before heading into the barn for music and dancing . We wanted a wedding that was unique and personal to us and we defiantly got that, it was the best day of your lives.  Western themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding at Camp Katur Western themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in Yorkshire Western themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in YorkshireWestern themed wedding in Yorkshire

Huddersfield wedding at Fixby Hall

Becci and James's wedding at Fixby Hall in Huddersfield

Becci and James's wedding took place at the beautiful Fixby Hall in Huddersfield. The day was fun-packed from start to finish and everyone was excited about the day. The building has such character and is a fabulous back drop for the photos, as are the grounds. You can even borrow a golf cart if you wish!
I was with the girls whilst the bride was getting ready, and nipping downstairs to get some of the groom and his ushers. The weather held off and we even got a rainbow during the meal.

Then once the party started in the evening the room was perfect for chatting and dancing. The bride and groom even had a sing-off to Meatloaf! It was great to be a part of the day.

Kristy and Anthony's wedding at Leeds Town Hall

Kirsty and Anthony's wedding at Leeds Town Hall

Kirsty Burton & Anthony Leyland got married on the 30th December 2016 at Leeds Town Hall with reception at The Leeds Club. They hired a red London bus which took the bride from the Radisson Blue Hotel to Leeds Town Hall for the ceremony. The guests were later transported from the town hall to The Leeds Club in the city centre for speeches, a wedding breakfast, and disco until the early hours.

The groom picked the bus because his surname is Leyland, like the bus manufacturer. The cake was a yorkshire/lancashire mix because the bride is from yorkshire (rothwell) and the groom from Wigan- hence he is wearing a wigan athletic scarf on the cake. The singer was busking in Leeds when the groom approached her for the wedding gig. They loved the sound of her voice when they were doing their shopping and approached her as a result. Flowers were by Dulcie who also has tea rooms and officially supplied the Tour de Yorkshire with her flowers.

Laura and Ben's wedding at Aldwark Manor in Yorkshire

Laura and Ben's Aldwark Manor wedding

We're sharing with you this beautiful Aldwark Manor wedding of Laura and Ben captured by the talented duo from Colin Murdoch Studio. This is what they had to say about the day:

Although we’d visited Aldwark Manor before, to photograph an event, this was our first time photographing a wedding at this stunning venue located between Harrogate and York.
Laura and Ben’s day was very family orientated, and Laura wanted to include their girls as much as possible in the day. We really enjoyed working with them – Heather spent the morning with Ben and the boys as they got ready (and had a couple of drinks!) at the hotel. Meanwhile, Colin captured Laura with her bridesmaids and family, as they got ready.
Their ceremony took place at Aldwark Manor, with a drinks reception following in the gardens and grounds of the hotel. Family photos and some couple’s portraits took place, before everyone headed back into the hotel for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
There are 120 acres of grounds surrounding the hotel, including a golf course, and it’s lovely for photographs. We took advantage of the light for a few more photos with Laura and Ben later in the evening, before the party well and truly started and everyone hit the dancefloor. We love getting right in the middle of the action at that time of night, and Laura and Ben’s friends and family were certainly up for having a good time!

Newbrugh Priory Wedding

Anna and Neil's Newburgh Priory wedding

What a well kept secret Newburgh Priory is, or perhaps it isn't if you live in or around York but until Anna and Neil came to see me with a view to booking their wedding photography I had never heard of it. It did however become my favourite venue of 2015 after photographing Anna and Neil’s Newburgh Priory wedding in August!

There is something magical about the grounds with their ruined priory, the views across the Lake, the statues which you find around at every corner and the leafy avenues to stroll along in the shade. In fact the very best view of the Priory is from the other side of the lake as you look across, you need to take a sneaky left turn as you come around the bend before the entrance to the Priory but it is the best way to get an entire view of the property and it never looked better, I imagine, than on the perfect Summers day of Anna and Neil’s wedding. They were so lucky as it enabled them to enjoy their drinks reception in the Abbey ruins after the ceremony .

Newburgh Priory wedding

If you are looking for a venue in Yorkshire I can’t recommend Newburgh Priory highly enough. Paul looked after Anna and Neil so well and was great to work with, taking the time to show me around , explain where the marquee would be etc .

Anna and Neil chose to have an intimate wedding, inviting only closest family and friends for the ceremony itself which took place in one of the Georgian drawing rooms; This had the most perfect quality of light for photography and some of the images I captured as they exchanged their vows are amongst my favourites of the year, especially the one when they laughed into each other’s eyes immediately after exchanging rings.

Anna had planned all the details of her wedding meticulously and it was an absolute pleasure to work with Jane Steel at Weddings and Events who designed the most stunning floral bouquets, and arrangements for the Marquee. Check out her web site at the bottom of this page and seriously consider her work if you are looking for a florist in the area.Newbrugh Priory WeddingNewbrugh Priory WeddingNewbrugh Priory WeddingNewbrugh Priory Wedding
