We’re Special Day Films; friendly, down-to-earth wedding videographers based in York. We specialise in a blend of cinematic and candid videography, and we’re delighted that you’ve found us, whatever stage you’re at in your wedding planning!

We’ve filmed weddings all over the country, in all kinds of venues, for people with all kinds of budgets, and we’ve always loved how a couple’s personalities can be threaded through the day; sometimes these things are planned, like your theme for the table names or your music choices. But it’s also things like the quiet shared moments with your nearest and dearest in the build-up, or the thing that didn’t quite go as planned but made you laugh anyway, or the no-nonsense bridesmaid getting unexpectedly choked up. These are the things we’ll be looking for when we’re making the video of your special day.

We get a lot of compliments about how unobtrusive we are on the day, the value for money we offer, and we take great pride in the fact that we are often asked back to work for friends and relations of previous couples – it’s always lovely to see familiar faces (as well as pregnancy bumps or new additions to families!) from past bookings.

We take tremendous pride in our work and our prices are based on the time and care we’ll be putting into the finished product (we’re not just trying to make the best wedding videos in the UK, more importantly we’re trying to make the best wedding videos in North Yorkshire!). Our wedding video packages are flexible so that you get a video or series of videos that are tailor-made for you and capture the parts of the day most important to you – there are cinematic highlights as well as candid videos from throughout the day, and you only pay for the bits you want, so you get excellent value for money (like we said: Yorkshire).

We have two main options which we use as a jumping-off point; you tell us if there’s anything you’d like adding in, changing, or taking out entirely, and we will put together a price for your totally bespoke wedding video package…

Option one: £1015*

-Unlimited pre-wedding consultations
-Full day coverage
-Full-length ceremony video
-Full-length speeches video
-Highlight video (approx 3 minutes long)
-Content for your socials (we aim to get these to you within 48 hours)
-Aerial footage of the venue (location and weather permitting)
-3 copies on eco-friendly USB sticks
-Online video hosting
-Option to add retro camcorder (£35)
-Option to add pre-wedding time capsule video for £165/£265

This option includes the ceremony and speeches in full (we believe these are a must-have!) plus a 3 minute cinematic highlights video with shots from the whole day. Both packages include content for your social media – short clips, formatted vertically (hopefully you’ll tag us because we always like reading the comments!). This is a full day package so I arrive at 11am-ish, ready to capture the atmosphere and excitement of you and your guests, and I’ll stay until 9pm-ish. You’ll get three copies of the finished videos on eco-friendly USB sticks, and the videos will also be hosted online to make it easier to share with friends and family. This price includes drone footage of the venue (so long as the weather and venue allow!). From the point you make your booking, you get unlimited pre-wedding consultations, which basically means you can get in touch as often as you like if you have any questions or want to just check in. The retro camcorder add-on means you and your guests have the use of one of our retro cameras to pass around and shoot an additional home movie of the day – tell us which decade you’re nostalgic for and we’ll make it happen! The pre-wedding time capsule video is is a short bonus film where you and your partner talk about your story so far. These are great fun to watch back in years to come, and a perfect addition to a wedding video package. These can be filmed in advance or on the wedding day itself. Option two: £2065*

-Highlight video (approx 3 minutes long, with the option to swap for a longer version)
-Content for your socials

-Second camera operator
-Online video hosting
-Option to schedule a watch-along premiere
-3 copies on eco-friendly USB sticks
-Pre-wedding time capsule video included
-Retro camcorder included

This option includes a 3-ish minute long highlights video with the option to swap for a 10-ish minute version that’s set to your music choices. You’ll also get an extended video bundle with full length versions of the speeches and the ceremony, as well as a longer look at the preparations, reception and evening reception. This price includes drone footage of the venue (so long as the weather and venue allow!), plus a second camera operator (which means we can get better coverage of the most important parts of your wedding day). You also get the social media content mentioned in option one.
This is a full day package just like option one, so we arrive at 11am-ish and stay until 9pm-ish, and you’ll get three copies of the finished video on eco-friendly USB sticks. We’ll host the highlights video online along with any of the extended films you’d like us to upload, to make it easier to share your special day with friends and family. We can also schedule an online watch-along for your friends and family when the video premieres.
This price includes the retro camcorder add-on and the pre-wedding time capsule!

[*These are 2026 prices for York and North Yorkshire weddings (i.e. weddings taking place within a 50 mile radius of York). We do travel further but might have to charge slightly extra. CONTENT CREATION…

We also now offer Content Creation as an alternative to our videography packages – full day coverage is £535 and includes plenty of clips to share on your socials, plus the option to add on a full-length video of the speeches for only £110.

And finally, if you have a real soft spot for the wedding videos of the 70s, 80s or 90s, our Super LoFi videos could be right up your street (we’re assuming your street still has a Blockbuster on it). These also have a retro price tag and only cost £395.
